Subscription Cost Calculator
Add up your subscriptions per month and per year, and see what the money could grow to if invested.
Quick answer
Subscription cost is the sum of all recurring charges converted to a monthly amount (yearly / 12, weekly x 52 / 12). Multiplied by months it gives total spent, and M x ((1 + i)^n - 1) / i gives the value if invested instead.

Assumptions & method
- Monthly equivalent: monthly × 1; yearly ÷ 12; weekly × 52 ÷ 12.
- Future value of investing instead = M × ((1 + i)^n − 1) ÷ i, with M the total monthly cost, i = annual return ÷ 12, n = years × 12 and payments at the end of each month. At 0% it is M × n.
- Spent over the period = M × n. Growth = future value − amount spent.
- Prices are held constant: no price rises, free trials, discounts or taxes.
- Returns are assumed constant and are not guaranteed. This is an illustration, not advice.

What your subscriptions really cost
Subscriptions are easy to forget because each charge is small, and they are billed on different cycles. Converting everything to a monthly and yearly figure shows the true total in one place. The opportunity cost goes a step further: if the same amount were invested every month instead, compounding could turn it into a much larger sum over time. That does not mean every subscription is a waste, since many are worth the price. It means you can compare what you pay with what else the money could do, and cancel the ones you rarely use.
