Salary to Hourly Calculator

Convert any pay figure into its hourly, daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly and annual equivalents using your own schedule.

Quick answer

Salary to hourly converts pay to an hourly rate: annual pay divided by (hours per week x paid weeks per year). A 40 hour week over 52 paid weeks is 2080 hours, so hourly pay is annual salary / 2080. Unpaid time off reduces the paid weeks.

Assumptions & method

  • Paid weeks = weeks per year if time off is paid, or weeks per year − time off weeks if it is unpaid.
  • Annual pay: hourly × hours per week × paid weeks; daily × days per week × paid weeks; weekly × paid weeks; biweekly × paid weeks ÷ 2; monthly × 12.
  • Hourly = annual ÷ (hours per week × paid weeks). Weekly = annual ÷ paid weeks. Monthly = annual ÷ 12. Daily = hourly × hours per week ÷ days per week.
  • Effective hourly = annual ÷ (hours per week × weeks actually worked), where weeks worked = weeks per year − time off.
  • The result is on the same gross or net basis as the amount you enter. Overtime, bonuses and benefits are not included. Results are estimates.

Turning one pay figure into all the others

Pay is quoted in different ways, which makes offers and budgets hard to compare. Converting between them needs just two facts: how many hours you work each week and how many weeks you are paid in a year. With those, every pay period is a fixed share of the annual total. This calculator takes whichever figure you have, converts it to an annual amount, and then splits that back into hourly, daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly and annual pay. It also separates paid and unpaid time off, so you can see your effective hourly rate on hours actually worked.
